BOARD APPOINTMENT

Johnston Press plc, one of the leading community media groups in the UK and Ireland, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gavin Patterson as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Gavin is a Director of BT Group plc and is Chief Executive of BT Retail. He joined BT in 2004 as Group Managing Director of BT Retail's Consumer Division. Prior to BT, Gavin was Managing Director Consumer Division at Telewest Communications plc. He started his career with Procter & Gamble where he spent nine years in various marketing roles. 

Commenting on the appointment, Roger Parry, Chairman of Johnston Press, said "I am delighted to welcome Gavin to the Board. His extensive marketing and consumer expertise, particularly in rapidly changing markets, will prove very valuable to us."
