Annual General Meeting
Walker GreenbankĀ PLCĀ (AIM: WGB), the luxury interior furnishings group whose brands include Sanderson, Morris & Co., Harlequin and Zoffany,Ā will hold its Annual General Meeting in London this morning.Ā Terry Stannard, the Company's Chairman, will make the following comments:
"The Company's performance in the first half of the financial year, to 31 July 2009, is in line with management expectations. Group salesĀ areĀ expected to be downĀ byĀ around 12.5%Ā on the corresponding first halfĀ last year, a period in which trading was particularly strong.Ā Our manufacturing sales have declined more significantly than our brand sales in the first half, partly as a result ofĀ customerĀ destocking.
"Whilst we are cautious about the remainder of the year, we have evidence that a degree of stability has returned toĀ our brandĀ salesĀ in our keyĀ UKĀ retailĀ market.Ā We are therefore comfortable that we will meet market expectations for the full year."Ā
