Board Appointment
Transense Technologies plc announces that it has appointed Norman Laing Allenby Smith, aged 61, as its new Chief Executive Officer with effect from 2 June 2008. Norman brings with him vast experience in the industry having been Managing Director of Instron Ltd and Senior Vice President of Instron Corporation. Between 2002 and 07, Norman was also Senior VP and General Manager of Instron Asia/Japan.
Instron is a manufacturer of materials testing machines and systems with a global revenues of $260M, and employing 1,300 people. From 2005, Instron has been owned by Illinois Tool Works (ITW Inc), which has global revenues of $14BN and employs over 55,000 people.
This appointment concludes the restructuring of the Transense Board. Your Directors are confident that we have a strong Management Team in place to ensure that the Company realizes its full potential.
