Turkiye Is Bankasi09 November 2007 Is Bank has a 90% Increase in the Net Profit for the Third Quarter of 2007: TRY 1,360 million In the third quarter of the year 2007, Is Bank kept increasing its performancethrough its funding and placement policies. Is Bank maintained its continuouseffort to keep cost of funding under control, while increasing its interestincome by 22%. In this context, having increased its TRY saving deposits by %22compared to 2006 year end, Is Bank managed to keep the cost of widespread andpermanent deposits at a moderate level, which are believed to be the Bank'sutmost power and succeeded in increasing the yield in assets while improving theasset quality. Is Bank's net interest income increased by 5%, while its net commissions andfees income increased by 14% on a year on year base. On the other hand, the 167%increase in the profit on trading account securities, which has reached TRY 391million, shows that Is Bank utilized the current market conditions excessivelyand made use of the opportunities offered by its widespread customer base in thebest way via marketing and sales of the on and off-balance sheet products. As aresult of these improvements, Is Bank's return on average assets and equitiesincreased remarkably compared to the same period of the previous year. In the last quarter, the growth of TRY loans gained a little momentum andincreased by 4%. In the last 9 months period, the growth rate of short term cashand general purpose loans, which are the most important factors of this period'splacements, has reached 44%. Despite the 9% increase in Is Bank's FC loans on aUSD basis, in the third quarter, FC loans had limited impact on total loans dueto the considerable decrease in foreign currency rates. As at the end of thethird quarter 2007, the share of total loans in total assets reached 42%, thanksto the Bank's prudent placement policy and collections during the period, theshare of non performing loans in the total loans decreased to 4.1% from 4.4%. Is Bank's increasing profitability and the positive developments in thefinancial markets contributed significantly to the growth of shareholders'equity by 17% and the capital adequacy reaching to the level of 20.8%, whichinspires confidence to Is Bank in making use of the growth opportunities in thecoming period. With its shareholders' equity amounting to USD 9 billion, Is Bank has gainedremarkable capital strength both in the domestic and the international arena, during the period in which the foreign loan markets were going through thenegative effects caused by the mortgage crisis in the USA. Is Bank, willmaintain its determination in growing with solid and secure steps, by using thiscapital strength, achieved by its active and prudent approach followedtraditionally, to create high quality and high yielding assets.
