DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDINGS

Calgary, Alberta, April 23, 2019 - TransGlobe Energy Corporation ("TransGlobe" or the "Company") announces that on April 18, 2019, Robert Jennings, Susan MacKenzie, David Cook, Matt Brister, and Steven Sinclair all Independent Directors received Deferred Share Units ("DSUs") as a result of the Company having declared a dividend:

As well the Company announces that on April 18, 2019, Randy Neely (President and Chief Executive Officer), Lloyd Herrick (Executive Vice President) and Edward Ok (Vice President Finance & CFO), all persons discharging managerial responsibilities with the Corporation, received Performance Share Units ("PSUs") and Restricted Share Units ("RSUs") as a result of the Company having declared a dividend. Also on April 18, 2019 Geoffrey Probert (Chief Operating Officer) a person discharging managerial responsibilities with the Corporation, received Performance Share Units ("PSUs") as a result of the Company having declared a dividend.
Also on April 18, 2019 Ross Clarkson (Non-Independent Director) received Performance Share Units ("PSUs") and Restricted Share Units ("RSUs") as a result of the Company having declared a dividend. Prior to Mr. Clarkson's retirement as CEO on December 31, 2018, he was a participant in the Company's long term incentive plans and as such was the recipient of PSUs and RSUs.

The newly granted share units were granted in accordance with the Deferred Share Unit Plan, Performance Share Unit Plan and the Restricted Share Unit Plan of the Company. No shares will be issued upon exercise or vesting of any of the share units as the instruments are settled in cash. The DSUs will count towards the respective shareholdings requirements for directors as outlined in the Company's compensation policy which is voted on by shareholders annually.
