Thomas Cook Group appoints new Group Chief Financial Officer

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that Jürgen Büser will join the Board as its new Group Chief Financial Officer with effect from 1 July. Dr Büser will replace Thomas Cook Group's current Group CFO, Ludger Heuberg who, for personal and family reasons, will return to Germany and take up the role of CFO for Continental Europe. Jürgen Büser is a member of the Group Management Board and has held the position of Chief Financial Officer of Thomas Cook UK & Ireland since 2005. Prior to this he worked for Thomas Cook's German business as Group Head of Controlling and M & A. Before joining Thomas Cook, he held senior positions within Siemens Financial Services' international consulting firm, Booz Allen & Hamilton and Westdeutsche Landesbank, Germany's largest public sector bank.  Commenting on the appointment, Thomas Cook Group Chairman, Thomas Middelhoff said, "I welcome Jürgen to the Board in this important role to support Manny in the execution of our strategy. I would like to thank Ludger for the great contribution that he has made since the merger last June." Manny Fontenla-Novoa, Group Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Cook Group plc said, "Jürgen has extensive knowledge of our international business and a proven financial track record and I am very much looking forward to working with him in this new role. I would also like to thank Ludger for his considerable contribution to the Group as CFO. I am very pleased that he will remain with us and continue to play a significant role in the Company." India: Jürgen Büser was a director of Thomas Cook India Ltd between 25 August 2005 and 21 January 2006. He was reappointed to the Board on 31 March 2008. 

Germany: He was also a member of the Supervisory Board of IFA AG between 6 November 2005 and 21 September 2006.
