Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) - Results

DecemberĀ 29,Ā 2008

OAO Severstal announces the results of voting on the resolution proposed at the Extraordinary General Meeting held onĀ 26Ā DecemberĀ 2008.

The following resolution was put to Severstal's shareholders on a poll at the Extraordinary General Meeting, and the results of voting were as follows: to approve the dividendsĀ for the third quarter 2008Ā in the amount ofĀ 7.17Ā rubles perĀ common share and per global depositary receipt ("GDR") payable beforeĀ February 24,Ā 2009Ā to shareholders on the share register record date ofĀ November 14,Ā 2008.Ā The starting date for payments isĀ DecemberĀ 30, 2008.

Holders of the Company's GDRs may contact Deutsche Bank Trust Company AmericasĀ as depositary for the related GDRs record date and payment date.
