NEW CONTRACTS
SciSys plc (stock code: SSY) - the specialist supplier of IT servicesĀ is pleased to announce the award of new contracts.
Following a rigorous selection process,Ā the Media and Broadcast Division of SciSysĀ has been awarded aĀ multi-millionĀ euro order by Deutsche Welle to renew its current digital audio production and playout system. The contract has been placed with VCS AG, a German based subsidiary of SciSys plc.
Over the next two years, VCS will be implementing its dira! system tailored exactly to the requirements of the customer. Deutsche Welle is to use the system to produce and broadcast its programmes inĀ 30Ā languages for all the world's regions in a dailyĀ production volumeĀ amounting to more than 100 hours. The object of the project is to replace the existing digitalĀ audioĀ production and playout system inĀ BonnĀ andĀ BerlinĀ with a state-of-the-art hardware and software environment. The order also includes training and aĀ long termĀ maintenance contract.

In addition the Space Division has just been awarded a major contract with Thales Alenia Space Antwerp for the Galileo Network Monitoring Facility (GNMF).Ā The contract has also been placed with VCS AG. The GNMF as aĀ facility of the Galileo Mission Data DisseminationĀ Network is responsible for the monitoring and control of the whole network infrastructure, which connects all sites within the Galileo system.Ā Galileo is a plannedĀ global navigation satellite system, being built by theĀ European UnionĀ (EU) andĀ European Space AgencyĀ (ESA).
Mike Love further commented "VCSĀ isĀ already working onĀ two otherĀ components of the Galileo ground segment for EADS Astrium and Thales Alenia Space France,Ā the "Ground Assets Control Facility" and the "Central Monitoring and Control Facility". TheseĀ provide central functions for archiving as well as monitoring and control of all facilities and data flows. This latest piece of good news cements VCS' position as the most successful German software company involved in the GalileoĀ groundĀ segment and gives the Space Division a strong order book looking out to 2009".
