MOU to Construct New Semiconductor Fabrication Plant
On October 6th 2014, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to construct a new semiconductor fabrication plant in the company's Godeok Industrial Complex in Pyeongtaek.
Details
1. Overview
The construction of new semiconductor fabrication plant on the 790,000m2 site will begin during the first half of 2015, and operations are scheduled to begin sometime during the second half of 2017.
2. Purpose of Investment
The new fabrication plant is expected to help Samsung Electronics to develop a semiconductor cluster in Giheung, Hwaseong and Pyeongtaek to meet growing demand for advanced semiconductor products. However, the Company has not determined the specific products to be manufactured.
2. Total Investment Amount
Approximately 15.6 Trillion Korean Won, including construction and the equipment
