Notice Regarding Approval of Share Repurchase and Cancellation Plan

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KS005930, KS005935, SMSN, SMSD) ("SEC") announced today that its Board of
Directors has authorized the third phase of the share repurchase program we announced on January 24.
All repurchased shares will be cancelled. As a part of the 9.3 trillion won share repurchase program, we have now
completed the second phase. We invested approximately 5 trillion won in the first two phases, where we repurchased
and cancelled 1.92 million and 480,000 common and preferred shares respectively. Details of the third phase of the
repurchase program are set forth below:
