("SDI" or "the Company")
Trading Update
The Board of SDI, the AIM quoted group focused on the application of digital imaging technology to the needs of the scientific community, provides the following update on trading for the year ended 30 April 2011.
Trading is broadly in line with market forecasts and the Board is cautiously optimistic that its markets will remain stable and that the Group's strategy will result in good medium-term growth.
However an unexpected shift in product mix leading to a reduction in gross margin, and exceptional costs during the period, are now expected to contribute to the post tax profit for the full year being significantly below expectations.
The Board continues to pursue a focused strategy of acquiring digital imaging companies in the life sciences sector and in other scientific markets, as well as seeking to generate organic growth.
The Group's interim results for the six months ended 31 October 2010 will be released in January 2011.
