("SDI" or "the Company")

Now Trading Within the AIM Healthcare Equipment & Services Sector

SDI, is pleased to announce that it has now been reclassified by FTSE Group into the Healthcare Equipment and Services sector (sub-sector: Medical Equipment), having previously been classified as Electronic and Electrical Equipment, as the Directors feel the Healthcare Equipment and Services Sector is more representative of the majority of business undertaken by the Company.

SDI designs, manufactures and sells imaging equipment predominantly to the life science research sector, with customers including medical research institutes and pharmaceutical companies. Its products are used to document, analyse and record experiments and to carry out routine quality assurance tasks.

SDI operates two business entities:

·; Synoptics - which makes imaging products for the Life Sciences laboratory industry, and

·; Atik - which makes specialist digital cameras that are used in astronomy, but also in many Synoptics products

Commenting on the Sector change, Harry Tee CBE, Chairman of SDI said: "The Healthcare Equipment and Services Sector is a better fit for SDI, given that almost all of our clients operate within the life science sector. We are pleased that this has been officially recognized by the LSE."
