RM plc: pre-close update for the year ending 30 September 2008 - trading in line with management's expectations

As part of its normal programme of communications with shareholders, RM is issuing an update on current trading prior to the end of its financial year on 30 September 2008. 

Trading during the year so far has been consistent with management's expectations for the year as a whole. 

The transformation of RM's business continues: RM is now delivering eight of the eleven BSF (Building Schools for the Future) projects it has so far been selected for; and FY-2008 will reflect a significant contribution from the Group's Education Resources and Assessment & Data activities. 

Terry Sweeney, CEO Designate of RM, commented:

"During the second half we have made further progress in BSF, winning two new projects - Newham and Haringey - and securing additional business with four schools in Leeds. Across the eight BSF projects we are actively delivering, we are now providing ICT services to twelve schools. 

"There has also been good development across other areas of our business. We have commenced shipments of our innovative Community Connect 4 network system, which will be a strategic upgrade for schools over the next few years; we have more than doubled the volume of exam scripts processed by the outsourced on-screen marking service we provide for Cambridge Assessment and other customers; and, in our Education Resources business, we have seen organic growth, as well as delivering the Tesco Sport for Schools and Clubs initiative."
