Salford and Wigan BSF Programme

RM notes that Salford City Council has published on its Web site a decision regarding the appointment of a selected bidder for its BSF (Building Schools for the Future) programme. The decision states that, subject to final agreement of terms, the Council has resolved to appoint Transforming Learning Partnership (TLP), a consortium which includes Hochtief, Laing O'Rourke and RM, as selected bidder for the project.

Salford City Council has indicated that it intends to spend £150m on its BSF programme, of which £17m is expected to be spent on ICT. It is anticipated that the Local Education Partnership (LEP) selected for Salford's BSF programme will also deliver Wigan's BSF programme.

BSF (Building Schools for the Future) is the largest single schools capital investment programme for over 50 years. BSF will provide world-class teaching and learning environments for all pupils, teachers and communities in England. A key part of the initiative is to ensure that local authorities develop a sustainable, area-wide ICT strategy for schools in line with the Government's personalised learning agenda: 10% of the funding is ring-fenced for ICT.
