Regent Inns PLC16 August 2006 16th August 2006 REGENT INNS PLC Board Appointment Regent Inns plc ("Regent" or "the Company") is pleased to announce theappointment of Russell Scott to the Board as Managing Director - Operations with effect from 1 September 2006. Mr Scott is currently Chief Executive and a majority shareholder of BrandasiaLtd, an Indian cuisine restaurant franchise business, set up in October 2004.Between 1999 and 2004, he was Managing Director of Scottish & Newcastle'sBranded Pubs business comprising over 300 outlets with turnover in excess of£250 million. Prior to joining Scottish & Newcastle, Mr Scott was Chief Executive of CapitalRadio Restaurants plc for over two years responsible for 98 restaurants withturnover of £33.2 million across eight countries. Whilst at the company, hedeveloped the Radio Cafe and Latin brands, and successfully disposed of theFrench and German estates. Between 1992 and 1997, Mr Scott was Chief Executiveof Harry Ramsden's PLC, during which time the company grew in the UK andinternationally from four to 31 restaurants. Prior to this, he held a number ofsenior positions at Whitbread including Operations Director of Whitbread BerniInns and Director of Whitbread Restaurants Europe. Mr Scott has no other Company directorships and there are no further detailsrequired to be disclosed under paragraph 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules.
