TSE wins major South African Government tender

The Board of TSE is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, TSE Consulting SA ("TSE Consulting"), the international sports management consultancy, has been awarded a major new contract with the Provincial Government of Gauteng in South Africa.

Gauteng, which incorporates the municipalities of Johannesburg and Pretoria is the most populous province in the Republic of South Africa and the fourth largest economic area in Africa as a whole, has commissioned TSE Consulting to undertake a major feasibility study for them to assist them with the development of an international sporting events strategy following their hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

This feasibility study commences immediately and will be completed in May 2009 at a contract price of £248,000.

The feasibility study will assist the Provincial Government of Gauteng in developing its strategy and planning for bidding and hosting major sporting events. With the region's preparations for the World Cup well advanced (21 of the World Cup matches will be hosted in the Gauteng province) the Provincial Government of Gauteng is now looking forward beyond the World Cup to ensure that the region benefits fully from the investment it has made. The feasibility study will consider Gauteng's suitability to be the first African host of a future Commonwealth or Olympic Games, amongst other major sporting events.

The Minister for Sport in the region, Barbara Creasy, said:

"Others may see the arrival of the World Cup in our country in 2010 as the culmination of their sporting dream, in Gauteng however we believe that hosting this great event will signal the beginning of a new era for sport in the region. It is for this reason that we are determined to ensure that we are fully prepared to capitalise on our achievements in 2010 which is why we have commissioned TSE to undertake this study now".
