Ultima exhibiting its "Solar Power Box "designed to provide renewable power to remote area schools at Mexico's premier Green Expo Fair, Mexico City 25 to 27 September 2013

The Company's Green Technology Division will be exhibiting its "Solar Power Box" renewable power system at the forthcoming Green Expo Fair being held in Mexico City on the 25th to 27th September 2013.

The Solar Power Box is a solar energy management solution, where electricity is taken from the grid, solar PV or storage batteries depending on the supply status. A single Solar Power Box has a capacity of 2Kw but can be expanded to a greater capacity by adding extra units. Each unit is designed to supply continuous power for lighting, fans, IT equipment and internet to the classroom. The management system synchronises the power source to ensure stability of supply at the lowest cost. Priority is given to solar electricity, with any excess being exported to the grid. When solar generation is not sufficient power is taken from the grid. The Solar Power Box is supplied in a single box which has the capability to store generated power that is not immediately required, enabling the stored energy to be used at a later time when solar or grid power is not available. When the system senses a power outage from the grid it will switch and supply power from the lowest cost alternative. The system is designed to stabilise and manage energy supply, helping to significantly reduce power outages and maintaining a secure and stable energy supply.

Interest in the system has been received from the Mexican Department of Education and the company expects the Green Expo fair will provide a platform to attract demand for the division's solutions from a wider audience
