Motive Television Announces Significant Milestones in Major Commercial Project with Sagemcom and Digiturk
First use of Television Anytime technology in Satellite Broadcasting Scheduled for Launch this Autumn
London: __ September 5th, 2011 -- Motive Television plc is pleased to report that it has made significant progress towards the first commercial implementation of its Television Anytime technology in the satellite broadcasting sector. Television Anytime is currently in commercial operation by television broadcasters in Europe and in planned field trials in the United States.
On 18 October 2010, Motive announced that its majority-owned subsidiary, Adecq Digital S.L., had signed a confidential agreement anticipated to be worth approximately $1.1 million in revenue in the first year with a major European television technology provider to integrate its Television Anytime (formerly Bestv®) non-linear TV software into a major European satellite broadcaster's transmission system and into consumer set-top boxes. Under this agreement, Motive also receives continuing royalties based on the number of set-top boxes ordered with Motive's Television Anytime technology.
Given the success and completion of the initial phase of the implementation, Motive is now able to announce that its agreement is with Sagemcom, a leading European provider of Digital Set Top Box solutions. The Motive Television Anytime technology is being provided to Digiturk, a Sagemcom customer and leading satellite television operator in Turkey that broadcasts Turkish programming to viewers in Turkey and around the world.
The installation of the major components forming the backbone of the Motive Television TV Anytime head-end (production system) has been completed at Digiturk premises in Istanbul, Turkey. The installation of Motive's head-end technology has been validated and accepted by both Sagemcom and Digiturk.
The scope of Motive's technology for Digiturk includes Hybrid STB (DTH + IP/OTT) service in Turkey with features including Autorecording, PushVoD over DVB-S, PushVoD over IP and Pull VoD.
Field trials with the first batch of set-top boxes are planned for early autumn, with a commercial launch scheduled for the end of this year.
Motive's Product MD of Television Anytime, Puneet Teja, remarked, "Over the past nine months, our engineering teams have successfully adapted the Television Anytime technology to the satellite broadcasting environment, whilst at the same time developed customized features and capabilities as desired by our partners Sagemcom and Digiturk. The Motive team has met the technical challenge and delivered new technology on time and within budget."
Motive CEO Len Fertig added, "Turkey has enormous potential for growth; almost 18 million TV homes, an increasingly sophisticated urban population, and expanding commercial links with Europe. We are delighted to be playing a part in the launch of Digiturk's new services and look forward to making this innovative customer service a success in Turkey."
