PILOT AGREEMENT WITH ANTENNA HUNGARIA
Industry interest in low-cost pay television continues to grow
Motive Television PLC (MTV.L), the AIM-quoted broadcast television technology and services provider, is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Antenna Hungaria ZRT ("Antenna Hungaria"), a fully-owned subsidiary of Groupe TDF, to test its Bestv® technology in a pilot programme in Hungary. Antenna Hungaria plans to evaluate the technology during August 2010 in order to make a decision on commercial implementation later this year.
This pilot agreement follows the similar Pilot agreement with TV Nova in the Czech Republic, the flagship operation of Central European Media Enterprises Ltd., and, the Directors' believe, provides further evidence of accelerating interest and progress in Motive's new strategy as a provider of technology and services to the digital broadcasting sector.
Antenna Hungaria is the operator of MinDig TV, digital terrestrial television, which is similar to Freeview in the United Kingdom. Having been launched in 2008, MinDig TV is currently received by 10 per cent. of all terrestrial homes and 6.3 per cent. of all Hungarian TV households. MinDig TV offers seven free-to-air Hungarian channels in its free-to-air services and recently launched MinDig Extra, a low-cost pay television service that provides 10 additional channels via DTT.
The project with Antenna Hungaria will explore the possibilities of adding Catch-Up TV, and Video on Demand services to the existing MinDig TV offer using the Bestv® technology.
Motive owns the global distribution rights to Bestv® technology outside of Spain and Italy and is continuing to discuss its use as a Business to Business solution for broadcasters in Europe, the United States and Asia.
Motive Chief Executive Officer, Leonard M. Fertig, said:
"With the Antenna Hungaria and Nova pilot implementations and negotiations underway with a number of international broadcasters, we anticipate providing the BesTV® technology and our supporting services in a number of TV markets in the coming months.
"Over the past few months we have seen accelerating interest and progress in our new strategy as a provider of technology and services to the digital broadcasting and we look forward to the future with confidence."
