Moss Bros Group PLC ("the Group"), the first choice in men's tailoring, today announces the appointment of Avis Darzins as a Non-Executive Director from 1 September 2019. Moss Bros also announces that Maurice Helfgott, in line with good corporate governance following nine years' service, will no longer be Senior Independent Non-Executive Director from 1 October 2019, when the role will be handed over to Non-Executive Director Alex Gersh. The Board has asked Maurice to stay on the Board and support Colin Porter until the next AGM in May 2020, at which point he will step down from the Board.
Avis Darzins joins the Board of Moss Bros with considerable retail experience and, specifically, a strong background in retail operational transformation. At Accenture, where Avis was based for eight years as a Partner focusing on the retail and consumer products sector, she delivered successful engagement with many well-known national and international brands such as Gap Inc. where she delivered the infrastructure to enable Gap Inc. to launch their Banana Republic brand onto the UK High Street. While also at Accenture she led numerous projects for Sainsbury's including shaping and leading the first phase of a performance improvement programme focused on delivering the customer promise in the retailer's top 50 stores.
Avis also founded her own management consulting practice in 2013 following four years as Director of Business Transformation at British media and telecoms corporation, Sky where she established and led a team of transformation experts. She has built over two decades experience in retail development and utilisation having secured business leadership roles at Arcadia, BHS, Mothercare and Littlewoods. She served as a board member of retailTRUST, a retail-orientated charity, for over a decade, assisting with fund-raising, marketing, finance, audit and renumerations activities. She continues her involvement with the charity as co-chair of their Ambassadors Group.
