Intego Malware Protection Update
Kape (AIM: KAPE), the consumer security software business, announces that its Intego development team was the first to expose two new high-profile macOS malware security threats, both of which Kape users are now fully protected against.
The Company's macOS security analyst team, which has expanded as part of Kape's integration of Intego, recently discovered two important malware families for Apple users. The first was the OSX/CrescentCore malware that installs malicious Safari extension software delivered via a Trojan Horse application concealed as an Adobe Flash Player installer. This new malware was first observed linking from a site purporting to share digital copies of new comic books for free.
In addition, the team discovered a new Mac malware, OSX/Linker, that seeks to capitalise on existing macOS Gatekeeper security flaws, which could be used by hackers to gain entry into private and supposedly secure operating systems.
