Johnston Press plc (the "Company")
The Company announces that on 6 July 2009 the Johnston Press plc Employee Share Trust purchased 3,000,000 shares of 10p each in the Company at 19.55p per share. This satisfies the Directors' responsibility to ensure sufficient shares are held in the Trust in order to meet potential awards under the Performance Share Plan.
The interests of each of the executive directors and members of the Group Management Board in the ordinary shares of the Company therefore increased by 3,000,000 shares each, solely by virtue of their status as potential beneficiaries of the Trust. The total number of shares in which each is now interested is as follows:
