Johnston Press PLC16 March 2005 For Immediate Release 16 March 2005 JOHNSTON PRESS PLC BOARD APPOINTMENTS Johnston Press plc, one of the UK's leading regional newspaper publishers, ispleased to announce the appointment of two new Directors: Leslie Hinton as anon-executive Director and Danny Cammiade as an executive director in the roleof Chief Operating Officer, both with immediate effect. Leslie Hinton has worked for the News Corporation for over 30 years as ajournalist and manager in Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.In 1976 he moved from London to New York as a foreign correspondent for thegroup's newspapers in Britain and Australia. After several executive positions,he was appointed President of Murdoch Magazines in 1990, two years laterbecoming President and Chief Executive Officer of News America Publishing,responsible for the company's US publishing operations. In 1993 he wasappointed Chairman and CEO of Fox Television Stations, returning to London in1995 as Executive Chairman of News International Ltd, the main UK subsidiary ofthe global media company The News Corporation Limited. Mr Hinton is a memberof the News Corporation Executive Committee. In 1996 he joined the board of thePress Association in Britain. In October 1998, he was elected Chairman of thenewspaper and magazine publishing industry's Code of Practice Committee whichsets the code implemented by the Press Complaints Commission. Danny Cammiade joined the industry in 1978 as a sales representative with T RBeckett. When Johnston Press acquired T R Beckett in 1992, Mr Cammiade wasMarketing Director of their Worthing operation. In 1994 he was appointedManaging Director of another Johnston Press subsidiary, West Sussex County TimesLimited, until in 1996 he became Divisional Managing Director of the Company'sNorth Midlands Division. Following the acquisition of Portsmouth & SunderlandNewspapers plc in 1999, Mr Cammiade was given control of the Portsmouth-basedoperations and soon after of an expanded South of England Division which alsoincorporated the previously owned businesses in that region. He was appointedDirector of Operations in 2001 with responsibility for the day-to-day publishingand printing activities of the entire Group. In addition to his companyresponsibilities, Mr Cammiade is also Chairman of the Newspaper Society'sMarketing Committee and a member of its Council. Commenting on the appointments, Roger Parry, Chairman of Johnston Press, said: "I am delighted to welcome both Les and Danny to the Board.
