Johnston Press plc,Β one ofΒ theΒ UK'sΒ leadingΒ regional media groups,Β is pleased toΒ announce thatΒ Camilla Rhodes will become aΒ Non-Executive DirectorΒ of the CompanyΒ with effect from 13Β July 2009.
Camilla is aΒ veryΒ experienced media executiveΒ who hasΒ held a number of senior positions during a 28 year career at News InternationalΒ ("News"), theΒ UK's largest newspaper publishing company and a subsidiary of News Corporation Inc.Β
Among her senior roles at News, she was Managing Director of Times Newspapers, publisher of The Times and The Sunday Times, from 1997 to 2001,Β before becomingΒ Managing Director of News Group Newspapers, publisher of the Sun and the News of the World, from 2001 to 2005. In 2005, she set up News Magazines, a standaloneΒ magazine publishingΒ division.Β Camilla left News in late 2008 to pursue other business opportunities in media and online.
Camilla has also heldΒ several board positions on news industry bodies, including the Advertising Standards Authority, the National Readership Survey, the Newspaper Publishers Association and the Newspaper Marketing AssociationΒ Council. She is a graduate in economics from University College London.
