Directorate Change - Appointment of non-executive Director
The Board of Jersey Electricity Plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Amanda Elisabeth Astall as a non-executive Director with effect from 1 June, 2020.
Amanda's career includes 27 years at Accenture (previously Andersen Consulting) where she was appointed as Managing Director of the UK and Ireland business, and then more recently as Managing Director for Public Services in Europe, Africa and Latin America. She has worked with blue-chip companies in the Utilities and Financial Sectors; as well as providing the technology services for the London Stock Exchange. She served on the CBI President's Committee.
In the last 10 years she has served in non-executive roles in defence and security for Her Majesty's Government, as well as on the Board of LSE listed Hyder Plc from 2013-14, prior to its acquisition. She is currently a non-executive director of Standard Bank Jersey and Offshore Group; Paragon Id (listed on Euronext) and VFS Global AG.
Born in Jersey, Amanda has lived in the UK, France and Singapore and has now returned to live in Jersey. Amanda has a BA in French, Economics and Politics from the London School of Economics, where she is also an Emeritus Governor.
There are no further disclosures required to be made in respect of Rule 9.6.13 of the FCA's Listing Rules.
Since the States of Jersey are considered to be a 'controlling shareholder' by virtue of their voting rights in the Company, the FCA's Listing Rule 13.8.17 requires additional disclosures when independent directors are appointed. Accordingly the following information is provided in respect of this appointment:

Amanda was a member of Digital Jersey Board 2012-2019 and a technology adviser to States of Jersey 2015/16 - both appointments made by the States of Jersey.
The Company also makes the following statements:
• Effectiveness: Amanda's biography is above. Her background and skillset will bring diversity to the Board.
• Independence: The Board considers that Amanda is independent in character and judgment, and that there are no relationships or circumstances that are likely to affect her judgment.
• Selection: Amanda was selected through a process overseen by the Nominations Committee with the use of an external recruitment consultant.
