INM WITHDRAWS EGM REQUEST

APN APPOINTS PETER COSGROVE AS CHAIRMAN

Dublin/London, 19 February 2013  Independent News & Media PLC ("INM") today confirms that it has withdrawn its request for an Extraordinary General Meeting of APN News & Media Limited [ASX, NZX:APN], in which it has a 28.95% shareholding. This follows the resignations announced yesterday by APN.

INM notes that APN has today announced the appointment of Peter Cosgrove as Chairman of the Board effective immediately. Mr Cosgrove has been an APN Board Member since December 2003.
