Portland Gas plc (the "Company") was informed today that Mr. Kenneth Ratcliff, a Director of Portland Gas plc, has today purchased 10,000 ordinary shares at 98p. 

Mr Ratcliff's total beneficial shareholding in the Company is now 63,000 ordinary shares, representing 0.85% of the issued and voting share capital of the Company
