HMV Group plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Duncan, Chief Executive of Channel 4, as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with immediate effect.

HMV also announces that Roy Brown, Senior Independent Director, will step down from the Board at the conclusion of his current term of office on 22 April 2009. Lesley Knox will become the Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.

Andy Duncan said:

"I am very pleased to be joining the HMV Group Board. CEO Simon Fox and his team are executing a clear plan to improve and grow the business in changing markets, and I very much look forward to contributing to the Board as the next steps in the Group's transformation are charted. "

About Andy Duncan

Andy Duncan (aged 46) was appointed Chief Executive of Channel 4 in July 2004. Prior to this he was a member of the BBC's Executive Board from 2001 to 2004 as Director of Marketing, Communications and Audiences. He also led the project to launch Freeview and was Chairman of the joint venture with BBC, Sky and Crown Castle for its first two years. Prior to that, from 1984 to 2001, he worked at Unilever were he held a series of Senior Director positions. He has also been Chairman of the Media Trust since 2006.
