HMV Group plc today announces the appointment of Robert Swannell as Non-Executive Chairman, effective 2 February 2009. As previously announced, Carl Symon will retire as Chairman and Director at the close of today's Annual General Meeting. Lesley Knox, a Non-Executive Director, has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman for the interim period.
Simon Fox, CEO, commented:

About Robert Swannell
Robert Swannell (57) is Vice-Chairman of Citi Europe. He has worked in Investment Banking since joining Schroders in 1977. He is a Non Executive Director of British Land PLC and of 3i Group PLC and a member of The Takeover Appeal Board. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Barrister.
Apart from the directorships noted above, there is no other information to be disclosed pursuant to LR9.6.13R in respect of this directorship.
