Board changes

After 12 years with Henderson Group plc (the 'Group'), Shirley Garrood has decided to retire from the Group in March 2014 and will stand down as Chief Financial Officer ('CFO') and as a Director with effect from 1 July 2013.

Rupert Pennant-Rea, Chairman of Henderson Group, said: "Shirley has had an extensive career with the Group, the majority of it as Chief Operating Officer and latterly as CFO. It was especially in her capacity as CFO that she demonstrated her years of City experience by successfully managing most of the support functions in the Group including finance, tax, IT and operations, human resources, legal, IR and strategy and company secretariat. Shirley has made an outstanding contribution to the business and we wish her well. I am pleased she will remain with the Group through to March next year enabling a seamless transition as well as overseeing the completion of a number of projects the Group is working on.

I am also pleased to announce a strong successor to Shirley. Roger Thompson joins us from J.P. Morgan Asset Management where most recently he was Global Chief Operating Officer of its Investment Management business and was previously Head of its UK franchise and prior to that International CFO. In his 19 year career at J.P. Morgan, Roger has held a broad range of roles and has worked internationally, spending time in Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong. His wide-ranging asset management experience, both in the UK and internationally, will be a great asset to the Group."

The appointment of Roger Thompson as CFO and as a Director of the Group is expected to become effective on 1 July 2013 and is subject to obtaining approval from the Financial Conduct Authority under its approved persons regime.
