London: Monday, 2 June 2008:Β Chi-Med today announces that Mr Shigeru Endo has been appointed as a Non-executive Director of Chi-Med with effect from 1 June 2008.Β
Mr Endo, aged 73,Β worked for over 40 years with Mitsui, where he became senior executive managing director and a member of the main board of Mitsui and Company Ltd. HeΒ isΒ chief executive officer and a director of Hutchison Whampoa Japan K.K., an executive director of Hutchison Harbour Ring Limited (a company listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and a subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa Limited), and a manager (equivalent to director inΒ theΒ UK) of Hutchison Europe Telecommunications S.Γ Β r.l. He is also a director of Axwood Developments Limited, Hutchison Whampoa Japan Limited, Infomart Corporation and PRD Electronics Limited and was a director of TRY Electronics Japan Ltd. from 2002 to 2006.
Mr Endo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Keio University. During his career, Mr Endo, a Japanese citizen and fluent English and Mandarin speaker, has managed large-scale business operations inΒ Japan,Β ChinaΒ and theΒ United States.
Save for the information disclosed above, there is no other information in relation to Mr Endo required to be disclosed pursuant to Rule 17 and Schedule 2(g) of the AIM Rules for Companies.
