DevonΒ Oilfield Update
TheΒ directors of Nighthawk Energy plc ("Nighthawk" or "the Company") (AIM: HAWK), the US focused hydrocarbon production and development company, are pleased to announce theΒ startΒ ofΒ pilotΒ productionΒ and construction of gathering facilitiesΒ atΒ the Devon OilfieldΒ waterfloodΒ projectΒ ("Devon project"), located in Bourbon County, Kansas. Nighthawk holds an 80 per cent. interest in the project and the operator, Running Foxes Petroleum Inc. ("Running Foxes") a 20 per cent. interest.
The DevonΒ project, coveringΒ 1,764 acres,Β is targeting theΒ Upper andΒ LowerΒ BartlesvilleΒ channel sandstonesΒ and has seen an expanded appraisal drilling programme over the project area since March 2007.Β
One well has been on pilot primaryΒ oilΒ production (without water injection)Β for some weeks. AΒ furtherΒ 28 successful appraisal wells haveΒ nowΒ been perforated, acidised and swabbedΒ and are ready to be placed on primaryΒ oilΒ production priorΒ to and duringΒ full water injection. Construction of a surface gathering system, tying-in the production and injector wellsΒ has commenced and is expected to be completed by the end of July 2008.
As announcedΒ onΒ 26Β February 2008,Β four injectorΒ wells have already been drilled and cased in a four-spot pattern.Β Β A further 20 injector wells are currently beingΒ drilledΒ and will beΒ added to the production facilities.
TheΒ expandedΒ waterfloodΒ injection andΒ designΒ is expected to takeΒ betweenΒ four and twelveΒ months.Β Β This will involveΒ observing the effects of waterflooding, fluid migration paths and reservoir production characteristics.
Running Foxes hasΒ engaged a waterflood expert with over 20 years'Β experience in south eastern Kansas, and additional personnel to manage the Devon and the Buchanan and Worden projects located in the adjoining State, Missouri, where Nighthawk and Running Foxes are currently test drillingΒ and increasing their land position.
Independent consultants Oilfield Production Consultants Limited ("OPC"),Β will commence evaluation of theΒ Devon, Buchanan and Worden projects immediately following the ongoing re-evaluation of Nighthawk's 50 per cent. interest inΒ theΒ Cisco Springs natural gas projectΒ inΒ Utah.
