HaloSource Launching astrea TM Bottle to Combat Lead in Drinking Water
Bottle Campaign Launched Today on Crowdfund platform Indiegogo
March 22, 2018, (SEATTLE, WASH.) - Today, on World Water Day, clean water innovator HaloSource,Inc. ("HaloSource" or the "Company") launched an Indiegogo campaign to crowdfund pre-orders of its new astreaTM bottle in the US. This bottle is expected to be the world's most effective daily-use filtering water bottle, tested to remove lead and other heavy metals to the most rigorous National Sanitation Foundation standard - NSF 53. HaloSource intends to help consumers filter the uncertainty out of their water by delivering a portable solution that allows Americans to drink "Water Without Questions".
A recent investigation by USA Today identified 2,000 water systems spanning all 50 states where testing has shown unsafe levels of lead in drinking water over the past four years. In addition, a growing number of schools across the US are also reporting unsafe levels of lead in water, a major issue considering research studies show exposure to lead and heavy metals particularly impacts children's brain development and cognitive function. Consumers are invited to pledge their support to "Kick the Lead Out!" on the Indiegogo campaign page that opened today and is expected to remain open for the next 30 days. In addition to supporting clean water here in the US, a portion of all funds raised during the astreaTM bottle campaign will be donated to water.org to support the charity's efforts to provide better access to clean water globally.
"Over the last 20 years, HaloSource's business focus has been international, working with consumer products companies to bring clean water solutions to developing countries; but with the events of Flint, Michigan putting the spotlight on lead and lead now showing up in our nation's schools, we recognised just how significant this issue is right here at home," said James Thompson, CEO of HaloSource.
