Grupo Clarin S.A.06 May 2008 GRUPO CLARIN S.A. announces appeal by subsidiary Arte Grafico Editorial Argentino S.A. ("AGEA") of adverse civil court decision On 2 May 2008, Grupo Clarin S.A. (the "Company") notified the Buenos Aires StockExchange and the Argentine Securities Commission that on 29 April 2008, itssubsidiary AGEA was served with a decision rendered by the Argentine NationalCourt of First Instance in Civil Matters No. 39 (the "Civil Court"), orderingAGEA to pay damages of Ps.28,521,500 (approximately US$8.9 million) plusinterest accrued from 2 March 1998 to the date of payment, to EditorialAtlantida S.A. ("Editorial Atlantida"). On 2 May 2008, AGEA appealed the CivilCourt's decision. In February 2000, Editorial Atlantida filed a claim against AGEA, allegingplagiarism and unlawful competition in connection with the publication of AGEA'sGenios magazine, and requesting damages. In April 2006, Editorial Atlantidabrought criminal charges against several parties (including AGEA) on the samegrounds. All criminal charges were dismissed. In its appeal against the CivilCourt's decision, AGEA will bring to bear the result of such criminalproceedings and evidence gathered in the civil claim, which, in AGEA's opinion,support its arguments.
