Appointment of Non-Executive Chairman
The Board of Global Petroleum Limited (AIM: GBP, ASX: GBP), the oil and gas exploration company presently focused on emerging plays in Africa and the Mediterranean, is pleased to announce that Mr. John Alexander van der Welle has been appointed to the Board of Directors as non-executive Chairman with immediate effect.
John van der Welle, (aged 58) is a chartered accountant with 30 years' experience in the oil and gas industry and is currently a non-executive director of AIM listed exploration companies Hurricane Energy plc and Lekoil Limited. John has previously been a senior executive with, or director of, a number of UK listed upstream oil and gas companies - Enterprise Oil, Hardy Oil and Gas, Premier Oil, First Calgary Petroleums and Stratic Energy Corp. John was also a non-executive director of Madagascar Oil from its IPO on AIM in 2010 until December 2012.
Mr Peter Taylor, who has been acting non-executive Chairman, will now resume his role of non-executive director.
