GENERAL ACCIDENT plc - ANNUAL REPORT AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
General Accident plc (the "Company") has today issued to shareholders its 2008 Annual Report and Financial Statements.
The documents listed below have today been submitted to the UK Listing Authority and will shortly be available for inspection at the UK Listing Authority's Document Viewing Facility at: 25 The North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London E15 5HS. In addition, the 2008 Annual Report and Financial Statements is now available to view on the Aviva plc website at www.aviva.com/gareports08.
General Accident plc 2008 Annual Report and Financial Statements;
A Shareholder Communications Election Form;
A letter to preference shareholders advising that the 2008 Annual Report and Financial Statements is available for viewing on the Aviva plc website;
A letter to preference shareholders forwarding a copy of the 2008 Annual Report and Financial Statements.
The Company's unaudited 2008 Full Year Results were announced on 5 March 2009.
The Company's 2008 Annual Report and Financial Statements contain the following statement regarding responsibility for the financial statements and directors' report (references in the following statement refer to the Company's 2008 Annual Report and Financial Statements):
"The directors confirm that, to the best of each person's knowledge:
(a) the Company financial statements in this report, which have been prepared in accordance with IFRS as adopted by the EU, International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee's interpretation and those parts of the Companies Act 1985 applicable to companies reporting under IFRS, give a true and fair view of the assets, liabilities, financial position and results of the Company; and
(b) the management report contained in this report includes a fair review of the development and performance of the business and the position of the Company and the Group taken as a whole, together with a description of the principal risks and uncertainties that they face."
