Firestone Diamonds plc

Placing raises £5 million

LONDON: 16 July 2008

Firestone Diamonds plc, ("Firestone" or "the Company"), the AIM-quoted diamond mining and exploration company (ticker: AIM:FDI), today announces that it has placed 5,882,353 new ordinary shares of £0.2 each in the Company with institutional and other investors at a price of £0.85 per ordinary share to raise £5 million before expenses (the "Placing"). These new ordinary shares will rank pari passu in all respects with the existing ordinary shares in the Company. Application will be made for the new ordinary shares to be admitted to trading on AIM, and it is expected that trading will commence at 8:00 am on 22 July 2008. The proceeds of the Placing will be used to accelerate evaluation work at the Company's BK11, BK16 and Tsabong projects in Botswana.

BK11 and BK16 (Orapa)

As stated in the Company's announcement of 26 June 2008, bulk sampling results from BK11 have been very positive and the Company now intends to significantly increase the speed of its evaluation work on BK11. The Company plans to carry out approximately 4,500 metres of percussion, core and large diameter drilling on BK11 and to recover and process approximately 1,000 tonnes of kimberlite, from which between 100-150 carats is expected to be recovered.

The Company recently entered into an agreement under which it can earn an 87.5% interest in the BK16 kimberlite, which is located 20 kilometres from BK11. The Company believes that BK16 has similar economic potential to BK11. The Company intends to carry out a similar programme to that planned for BK11, with approximately 4,000 metres of percussion, core and large diameter drilling to be carried out and approximately 1,000 tonnes of kimberlite to be recovered and processed.

The work planned on BK11 and BK16 is expected to enable an Inferred Resource to be defined on both kimberlites.

Tsabong

The Company intends to accelerate evaluation work at its Tsabong project, where it has identified 14 high interest kimberlites for bulk sampling by large diameter drilling. The pace of work will increase significantly in the second half of 2008, with large diameter drilling on all 14 high interest kimberlites expected to be completed and samples processed by the end of the year. Results from sampling on MK1 and a number of the other high interest kimberlites are expected to be released in Q3 2008.
