Notification concerning interests in shares of Elan Corporation plc (the "Company"). 1. Wellington Management Company, LLP ("Wellington Management"), isregistered as an investment adviser with the United States Securities andExchange Commission and acts as discretionary investment manager on behalf ofvarious separate (the "Accounts") that hold an interest in shares of theCompany. Wellington Management's interest in the shares is as an investmentmanager, as is mentioned in Sections 67(1) and 77(4) (B) of the Companies Act1990 (the "Act"). The Accounts do not act as a group nor do they act in concertwith respect to the interests in shares. Wellington Management acquired theinterests in shares for the Accounts in its capacity as discretionary investmentmanager to, and solely for the benefit of, the Accounts, and the interests wereacquired solely for investment purposes. The shares are registered in the nameof the Accounts or the Accounts' custodians or nominees according to theirrespective holdings. 2. Wellington Management as discretionary investment manager on behalf ofvarious separate accounts, has purchased, in the aggregate, 1,509,312 ordinaryshares and 35,649,480 ADR shares. On a converted basis, this represents theequivalent of 37,239,792 ordinary shares, or 7.95% of the shares outstanding, ofthe Company. This is a decrease of 0.09% since our notification on 11 May 2007.Therefore, Wellington Management hereby gives notice to the Company of suchinterest in shares, pursuant to the provisions of Sections 67(1) and 77(4)(B) ofthe Act. 3. This notice is given in fulfillment of, and for the express purpose ofdischarging the obligations imposed on us by, Sections 67(1) and 77(4)(B) of theAct and arising out of the circumstances referred to in paragraph 2.
