e2v technologies, a specialist developer and manufacturer of high technology components and sub-systems, announces anΒ Β£11mΒ contract renewal to supply Varian Medical Systems,Β Inc., headquartered in Palo Alto, US, with electronΒ devicesΒ for incorporation into linear accelerators, for use in radiotherapy cancer treatmentΒ and cargo screeningΒ systems.
The contractΒ will beΒ worth at leastΒ Β£11mΒ (payments will be in USΒ dollarsΒ at the prevailing exchange rate)Β over twoΒ years, and is the first of a number of anticipated multi-year contract renewals for electronΒ devicesΒ used in linear accelerators. e2v's productsΒ generateΒ and deliver the microwave power requiredΒ fromΒ the linear acceleratorΒ to produce X-rays usedΒ inΒ both the imaging and radiation treatment of tumoursΒ as well asΒ the imaging systems withinΒ cargo screeningΒ equipment.
ThisΒ contractΒ represents anΒ increase in businessΒ with this customer,Β has the potential to increase in value over the termΒ of the agreement, and is in line with management'sΒ growth expectations for this sector.
