The deal extends the existing agreement between BES and the Morettifamily. BES currently distributes wine from the family's Petra wineries in theUS and the UK. Vittorio Moretti, president and founder of Terra Moretti, said: "We aredeveloping an excellent partnership with BES. They have already proven that theycan deliver a winning formula with our Petra wineries. We are delighted toextend this successful relationship with them to include our Contadi Castaldiwines. We look forward to working more closely together." One of the Franciacorta region's producers, Contadi Castaldi was conceived byVittorio Moretti in 1991 who turned it into a state-of-the-art winery. The150-acre winery received critical acclaim from Italy's most respected wineauthority, Gambero Rosso, giving Contadi its highest award for quality andprice. The Contadi sparkling wine is produced with a "Methedo Classico," thatuses the secondary fermentation in the bottle with the use of Chardonnay, PinotBianco, and Pinot Noir grapes.
