DCD Wins New Prime-Time Series Commission from BBC One

DCD Media, the independent TV production and distribution group, has been commissioned by BBC One to produce Children's Emergency (working title), a new character-led observational series which exclusively follows the work of the mobile intensive care teams dedicated to taking critically ill children to the UK's specialist children's hospitals.

The 8x30 minute series, to be produced by DCD-owned September Films, has an estimated value to DCD of circa £1 million after the initial commission and subsequent near-term secondary distribution which will be exclusively handled by DCD's own distributor, DCD Rights, as part of its slate for the forthcoming MIPTV market in CannesFrance

David Green, Chief Creative Officer and Acting CEO of DCD, said,

"This is another important step in DCD's continued diversification into new programme genres and onto prime-time BBC One.

It is also a further string to our bow as we go to the most important TV market later this month armed both with a great slate of programmes, particularly in the documentary or docu-series genre, and a war chest of cash to spend on third party programmes for distribution."

Notes to Editors:

About Children's Emergency (working title)

Each time a seriously ill child needs to be moved for life-saving treatment, the highly specialised retrieval teams from CATS (The Children's Acute Transport Service) will respond 24/7 and transport the child to hospital for emergency care.

Executive Producer for DCD-owned September Films, Shaun Gilmartin, has won exclusive access to these exceptional teams - staffed by consultants and specialist nurses and carrying high-tech life saving equipment to take care of young patients on the spot.

The series follows a group of individuals who often make the crucial difference between life or death for critically ill children.
