DCD Wins Four New Factual TV Commissions for BBC1

DCD Media, the independent TV production and distribution group, has received commissions from BBC1 to make strand of factual entertainment films. The commissions are valued at approximately £0.8 million to DCD.

The commissions are:

Tourettes (working title, 1x60', BBC1) revisits John Davidson and Greg Storey 12 years on from the award winning BBC One documentary 'The Boy Can't Help It'. An intimate and heart-warming documentary which captures the challenges and triumphs in the protagonists' lives and how they have been dealing with having the illness since we last saw them;

Fix My Fat Head (1 x 50', BBC1) follows Hannah Jones, a 36 year old journalist who, at 21 stone, is clinically obese. Hannah has tried everything to lose weight but so far nothing has worked. She believes that the problem is all in her head and she embarks on a six-month journey to find a solution to solve her weight problems forever;

Rock and Roll Hotel (3 x40', BBC1) - Mark Fuller, night club owner, entrepreneur and host to the stars is on his biggest mission yet. His new venture is Sanctum, London's first rock n roll themed boutique hotel. Its 30 individually designed rooms are specifically aimed at rock stars and celebrities wanting to stay in the Capital. But The Sanctum Hotel is opening in one of the worst recessions in living memory and the cost of the build has spiralled. 'Rock n Roll Hotel' follows Mark as he takes the ultimate gamble at a time when his other business assets, The Embassy Club and The Inn On The Green, are on the line;

And finally a strand of films for The One Show, BBC1's highly successful magazine format.

The programmes are being produced by DCD subsidiary Prospect Wales, part of Prospect Pictures and are executive produced by BAFTA winner Todd Austin (former Head of BBC's One Life series) who joined Prospect in 2007 and has since spearheaded its expansion into primetime factual formats and documentary programming.

David Green, Chief Creative Officer and Acting CEO of DCD, said,

"I am delighted with yet another set of commissions from BBC1 for a DCD company, adding to a powerful slate of factual entertainment - an area in which we are really flourishing."
