Development of Annuity Revenue Services with metropolitan networks
Redstone plc (AIM: RED.L), a leading provider of network based end to end managed services, technology and infrastructure solutions, announces progress in building annuity revenue services with its Cambridge and Portsmouth metropolitan area networks ("metro networks").
Redstone's Cambridge metro network, which comprises over 28 miles of fibre across the city, recently saw the launch of Cambridge Cloud, a service inspired by offerings such as Apple's iCloud. With customers becoming accustomed to cloud services and App Store-like ease of purchasing in the home, they are increasingly looking for such simplicity and flexibility in the workplace.
In Portsmouth, the City Council recently signed a deal with Redstone to provide connectivity, via its metro network, to 72 schools in the region. Redstone's investment in lighting the network last year, will directly and positively impact on education in the region (with a speed of 1Gb/s), with the deal also providing significant cost savings for the Council. Overall, Redstone sees the contract as 'a stamp of approval' from the Council, and that this deal strengthens this relationship even further with this key long term client.
"It is pleasing to see the Cambridge metro network begin to live up to its full potential in connecting local, tech-savvy companies to cost-effective cloud services," said Tony Weaver, Chief Executive of Redstone. "Meanwhile the Company's investment in lighting the Portsmouth metro network is already beginning to bear fruit, and the contract with Portsmouth City Council is a great vote of confidence in our services."
