Carpetright plc, Europe's leading specialist carpet and floor coverings retailer, announces that John Kitching, Executive Director, is to leave the Board at the end of the current financial year on 2 May 2009. John will remain with Carpetright to concentrate on his role as Managing Director of the Storey Carpets chain, which was acquired by Carpetright in May 2007. 

Storeys operates 37 stores in the North East of England.

Lord Harris, Chairman & Chief Executive, said: "John has made a huge contribution to the Group's development over the last 20 years, in particular in establishing and building up Carpetright's 

successful continental European business, and we thank him for his many years of valuable Board service. We are pleased that Storeys will have the benefit of his extensive experience and look forward to his continuing contribution to the Group."
