Smiths News PLC26 October 2006 SMITHS NEWS PLC (the 'Company') NOTIFICATION PURSUANT TO DISCLOSURE RULE 3.1.4R (1) (a) SMITHS NEWS EXECUTIVE SHARE SCHEMES The Company announces that (as set out in the Demerger Circular to Old WH SmithPLC shareholders dated 7 July 2006) it has granted replacement options over theCompany's shares under the unapproved part of the WH Smith Executive ShareOption Scheme 1999 (the 'Share Option Scheme') in exchange for existing optionsover Old WH Smith PLC shares and has also granted replacement awards over theCompany's shares under the WH Smith 2004 L-TIP (the 'LTIP') in exchange forexisting awards over Old WH Smith PLC shares.
