Additional prospecting licences granted

6 Dec 2011 07:00

6 December 2011 Conroy Gold and Natural Resources plc ("Conroy" or "the Company") Seven Additional Prospecting Licences Granted * New Licences Granted in Counties Clare, Tipperary and Kilkenny * Similar Geology to Armagh/Monaghan Gold District * Known Gold Occurrences in Licence Areas

Conroy (AIM: CGNR; ESM: CGNR.I), is pleased to announce that it has been granted seven Prospecting Licences in Counties Clare, Tipperary and Kilkenny.

Gold has been reported previously in the licence areas, all of which have similar geology to the Armagh/Monaghan gold belt where the Company has made a number of gold discoveries and is currently moving towards development of its first gold mine in that area as part of a multi deposit strategy.

The licences granted cover an area of approximately 300 square kilometres (116 square miles).

This release has been approved by Kevin McNulty PGeo, who is a member of the Company's technical staff, who holds a BSc/MSc in Geology and Remote Sensing, in accordance with the guidance note for Mining, Oil & Gas Companies issued by the London Stock Exchange in respect of AIM Companies, which outlines standards of disclosure for mineral projects.

Commenting, Chairman, Professor Richard Conroy said:

"I am delighted that the Company has been granted these licences in lithologies similar to those of the Armagh-Monaghan gold belt where we have been so successful, and are now focusing on development. It is, I believe, important to secure this similar geological terrain and to initiate preliminary exploration on it.

"I particularly welcome working again in Co. Kilkenny where management were previously involved in the discovery and development of zinc orebodies at Galmoy which revived the Irish base metal industry. We look forward to doing the same in gold."
