New Initiative with Barclaycard Commercial
@UK PLC have teamed with Barclaycard Commercial to offer a combined solution which integrates the @UK PLC electronic marketplace with Barclaycard Commercial's Government Procurement Card (GPC) payment solution.
The combined solution has been selected following a further competition exercise conducted with a number of GPC Visa Card Issuing Banks which was managed by Buying Solutions (formerly known as OGCbuying.solutions) on behalf of the London Procurement Programme for the London NHS under the terms of the GPC Framework Agreement.
Market testing for the new service is planned to take place at NHS pilot sites in London during the 2nd quarter of 2009. Beyond this, the service may be offered more widely across the public and private sectors.
@UK PLC has been working with Barclaycard for 10 years providing an integrated solution of ecommerce and electronic credit card acceptance for companies wishing to sell goods via the internet. This new service takes that existing capability and links it into buyside eProcurement, substantially increasing the availability of line item on transactions to GPC users.
This initiative also supports the Government objective of 10 day payment to SME's, as suppliers wishing to use this service will be paid within 3 days.
