Bristol & West PLC01 March 2005 BRISTOL & WEST PLC ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS Bristol & West plc, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank of Ireland, is pleasedto announce the appointment of Mr. Brian Goggin to succeed Mr. Maurice Keane asChairman of the Bristol & West Board of Directors with effect from 28 February2005. Mr. Goggin is Group Chief Executive of Bank of Ireland. Mr. Maurice Keane is retiring from his position as Chairman, having been amember of the Board since 1997 and Chairman since 2002. Mr. Geoffrey Matthews, Non-Executive Director and Senior Independent Directorwho has been a member of the Board since 1996, has been appointed to theposition of Vice-Chairman. Mr David McGowan has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Bristol & Westas an Executive Director with effect from 28 February 2005. Mr McGowan isManaging Director of Business Banking UK, part of the Bank of Ireland UKFinancial Services Division and was a Director of Bank of Ireland UK Holdingsplc from September 2001 to June 2002.
