STATEMENT RE: NEW PORTFOLIO FINANCING TRANSACTION

Burford Capital Limited ("Burford"), a leading global finance and investment management firm focused on law, today issued the following statement:

It is Burford's practice regularly to release marketing and promotional news that is not financially material to Burford's business using media channels other than RNS. Such news is included on Burford's web site, often appears in the legal trade press and is an important part of Burford's client acquisition and marketing strategy.

Yesterday, Burford and a UK law firm, Shepherd and Wedderburn, jointly announced a portfolio financing transaction, the details of which can be found on Burford's web site and which is believed to be the first such transaction with a pure UK law firm. That transaction is not financially material to Burford and is part of the normal course of our business. Nonetheless, we are delighted to have announced the transaction and to be working with Shepherd and Wedderburn to explore the benefits of portfolio finance for the firm's growing practice.
