British Polythene Industries PLC21 December 2005 PRE-CLOSE PERIOD TRADING UPDATE 21 December 2005 Prior to entering the close period ahead of the preliminary results for the yearto 31 December 2005 to be announced on 6 March 2006, British PolytheneIndustries PLC has issued an update on current trading. We indicated at the time of our Interim Statement that we were confident of afull year result ahead of 2004, based on the good performance in the first half. At the same time, we advised shareholders of certain issues on tradingvolumes, margin compression and energy costs which had the potential to affectthe second half results. We can now report that our business has coped well with these issues and thatthe results for the full year are likely to exceed current market expectationsmaterially.
